Uploaded File links in posts

Hi,

I installed WordPress, made a post and attached a word document and a JPG to the post.

I expected to automatically see a link in the post to both of the documents, like in a forum, but there is no sign of any document tied to the post.

How can I make a link in a post appear and have a link to the file that was uploaded?
