    Hello,
I noticed recently that the S3 backups for two sites stopped working early this year. I can’t figure out what is wrong. They start fine, they complete, they don’t have any errors, but the files are not in the Amazon S3 bucket.
I turned on debug logging and it looks like the upload is aborted, then tries to restart, and then it just stops.
Here is the log file: https://soulcenterbaltimore.org/backwplog.txt
Any idea what is going wrong here? Thanks for any help.

I checked the log and see that the job did not finish yet, do you have any completed log?
    Thank you!

@duongcuong96 Thanks for checking the log and replying.

Yes that’s the problem. The job isn’t completing. On the jobs page it says the job completed but it didn’t. That is the log after it says it completed and even after waiting more time for it to keep going.
So the question is, what’s stopping it from completing and how do I get it to actually complete?

It seems to have something to do with the size of the backup. When I edit the job to exclude the uploads folder (where most of the size comes from) it works fine.

    Thanks for any help

    Hi @duongcuong96

I’m noticing the same problem on more sites. I’ve tried disabling all other plugins. I tried deleting and reinstalling the backwpup plugin. I tried simplifying the backup settings. I’ve tried turning off caching and other things. I tried all of these things at once. None of that helped.

I tried splitting the backup into multiple jobs to reduce size. If it’s pretty small it works. If it’s over 200mb or so it doesn’t work. I’d be happy to split it up a bit, but that seems like too much splitting.

I’d appreciate any help. Otherwise I’ll need to switch to a new backup plugin. This isn’t working.

I did some more testing and it works fine when I turned off SiteGrounds’s “Ultrafast PHP” along with their caching and other optimizations. Full size and other plugins on.
Is this a problem you know about? Is there any way for it to work with the Ultrafast PHP on?
    Thanks for any help.

Another note that might be helpful for you:
When it doesn’t work it says “Job completed in 0 seconds” on the jobs page progress bar when it finishes.

    hello @zstarmac
sorry about the delayed response, is the issue still happens now?
    Thank you!

It still happened last time I checked last week. But since I didn’t hear back from you for so long I switched to UpDraft Plus for backups. They split their uploads into smaller files so it works. I can’t really go a month without backups.

so I’m going to close the question here.
    Thank you!
