There are a few issues that don’t seem to work for me, uploading a theme is one of them. When I click the button nothing happens. I know I can manually drop a theme folder on the installation, but I still have other things that don’t work. So I’m not looking for a bypass, but rather to hopefully fix the issue.

It’s a fresh install of 4.9.5 on localhost, no plugins or themes or anything installed. I’m just past connecting my database and have logged into dashboard for first time.

I’m running XAMPP, and I have built several other websites this way (on localhost first, then deploy to web server). In fact I have two other WordPress websites I’ve recently built that currently work without issue.

I’ve attempted installed a different download of WordPress, a legacy 4.9.1 version I had laying around. Same issue. I have tried different browsers. I’ve tried creating new database. Same issue.

If I inspect the page, the console says “Uncaught SyntaxError: Invalid or unexpected token. load-scripts.php:1”

It is on localhost so I can’t link you to it, but does anyone know why some functionality would work but not others on a fresh install of WordPress? And why another fresh installation would work but not this one? Is there a file I can borrow from a working installation to enable this one to work?

    Thanks!

Fixed. I blew it all away and tried on a different machine. Must have been something with my machine’s settings.
