Upload one file a time

Is it possible to upload one file a time. When i upload multiple files (20files x 4mb each) the first 4/5 succeed, but the others give the error “server limits”

I reckon that the php kills the action as it takes too much time to upload. Or do you know a way how to extend that ‘kill’ time?
