Yesterday I upgraded a WordPress 4.2.4 installation to 4.3. Until that, I was uploading images to my media library with absolutely no problems. Did that yesterday, before upgrading.

Right after the upgrade 4.2.4 -> 4.3, the image upload stopped working. The image seems to be uploaded, but a message stating something like “upload failed, try again later” appears. A blank frame appears at the media library where the thumbnail of the uploaded image should be. I didnt changed any configuration, nor changed any file/dir permissions at the upgraded 4.3 installation.

On the same server, with the very same php/mysql/httpd configuration I have another identical (same themes/plugins) WordPress installation still running 4.2.4 on which I can upload images without any problem.

The usual “deactivate all plugins – reinstall – reactivate plugins” approach did NOT solved the problem.

This is clearly a 4.3 issue. What can I do to fix this?

I have the same problem on my site!

I tried different browsers and it didn’t work in any of them.
In case this is relevant, my blog runs with the Foodie theme by Genesis.
I would REALLY love this problem to be solved, as I cannot upload any post on my blog until this is fixed.

    Thank you!

This is a common problem for that version. To solve this, update to the newer 4.3.1. Everything should work correctly then.

    Also, read this article.
You should change the line in the taxonomy.php file and create a plugin file. And don’t forget to backup the file.

Solved, by restarting the php-fpm and nginx daemons on the server.

I usually try to avoid restarting services on my servers, but after the upgrade from 4.2.4 to 4.3 something nasty happened to the fastcgi cache. After restarting those daemons, the upload of images got back on track and its working fine again.

EDIT: Thanks for the tip, Mobilunity… I solved it still using 4.3 as described, just by restarting those daemons. Will try 4.3.1 later.

I don’t find where to update to 4.3.1.
It usually tells me above the homepage, but it’s not there.

To be honest, I have absolutely no knowledge in anything a little complexe, like .php and nginx… But I would really like to be able to solve this problem ??

Also, can you suggest a good way to backup my blog?

    Thank you so much!

Now I got some time to check out 4.3.1 and, as Valisesetgourmandises pointed out, I couldnt find 4.3.1 too. It seems its not available to end users yet.

Valisesetgourmandises, I dont know how/where you host your WordPress site, if you dont have underlying access to the server’s operating system, you will need to use an alternative procedure, like restart the whole server if you have that option on your host management interface (or ask your hosting company support to do that), the effect will be the same.

For backups, I am a very satisfied user of the free version of the BackWPUp plugin.
