• I recently updated my client’s old wordpress site with a new wordpress site. I transfered the db using All-In-One WP Migration. It’s basically a new site, I developed it from scratch not using anything from the original.

The site seemed to work, except I noticed some links gave me a 404 error on certain pages, and not the 404 error from my new theme. I realized it’s 404’ing any pages that had the same name as the old pages from the site, ie. the Products page (example: websiteurl.com/products) and contact (example: websiteurl.com/contact)

I tried to just change the permalinks and that worked, kind of. The pages did work under the new permalink, but unfortunately I have a lot of links that still point to the original names. These old links are still 404’ing.

    Any ideas? Thanks!

  • Hi
Would it help to install a redirection plugin and add the urls for the pages that are generating 404 errors such that they are redirected to the new pages?
Personally i use the Redirection plugin by John Godley which is in the WordPress plugin repository.
