• I found two plugins on wordpress, one which allows user to upload file from url, other that allows user to upload zip file containing images (Which extracts after uploading).

I have my media in zip formtat backed up at dropbox. Is there any way that I can link to my zip (in dropbox) and the media gets auto fetched in wordpress?

  • Not that I know of. If media is not uploaded via the media uploader, it won’t be visible in the media library. You could try doing it via FTP and use this plugin:

    Hey, yes
I just reset my wordpress and the result is unexpected.
Filezilla still shows images in the uploads folder, but I cannot find them in media library.

What the solution to this? I can make images visible in library?

Did you install and use the plugin?

Just saw your other thread – if you reset everything, you’ll likely have to re-upload them all if the above plugin doesn’t fix it.

But what is the reason, that despite content being there in the uploads folder, it isnt showing up in library?

No other simple tweaks available rather than re-uploading all the stuffs?

And no, haven’t used that plugin yet. Will see now.

Imported files using the plugin but the media library responding “No media attachments found.”

Hmm, haven’t used that plugin and it’s kind of old now, so it may not work any longer.

How many images do you have in the media library? Did you make a backup of your database before you reset it?

    Thread Starter srujbarai

    (@srujbarai)

Yes, I did a backup of it.
    It is in zip format.
If I unzip that on my system and upload it to library, will it change the file name? (It is still in use in one of the plugins)
And the zip has subfolders in it which contains images. Does this matter?

I made the backup using updraftplus plugin and restoring using the same isnt working either.

And one more thing, the other thread was closed for it being answered here, But this dsn’t answer how to reset wordpress to make make it just like it was before.
Using the wordpress-reset plugin isn’t removing folders like the upload folder.

I’m talking about your database – not your site files. When you upload a photo via the uploader, there is image info written to the database – if you don’t have that info in the database, WP cannot “see” the image in the media library.

That plugin you used says this:

Resets the WordPress database back to it’s defaults. Deletes all customizations and content. Does not modify files only resets the database.

It erased everything in your database, but did not modify your site files – if you want to get rid of those, you can delete them via FTP.

Is that what you want to do?

    Thread Starter srujbarai

    (@srujbarai)

    Yes yes,
but im afraid if that will end up into a complete mess.
Can you tell me what to delete and what not to

and also there is the plugin-old folder which if I try to delete from filezilla says “Permisson denied”.

If you want to start over entirely, the easiest way to do that is to ask your hosting company to wipe your files on the server for you – so you can go back to square one and install WP fresh. Is that what you want to do?

    Thread Starter srujbarai

    (@srujbarai)

But it is really difficult to contact my hosting company.
I just want to know which files to delete/replace from sftp client to restore entire wordpress (database+files).

2> Why it isnt letting me delete plunin-old folder?
