After updating to WordPress 5.0 I can no long upload images to any gallery. I get the error Could not write to file. Please check filesystem permissions. Filename: /home/saddle20/public_html/wp-content/gallery/test/image.jpg”.

I also get this error if I try to import an image to a gallery from my Media Library. I have no problems uploading images to my Media Library, but can’t import them to any NextGen Gallery.

  • I converted all PNGs to JPGs, still, it does the same thing.

“Could not write to file. Please check filesystem permissions. ”

uploads the photos but they are all broken in the gallery. If I look in my cpanel file manager, the images are there but they are not showing up in the website.

Please post link for rollback if fix will take into January.

This is still an issue. Any eta on a fix?

    Hi @lowercase001

We do ask if possible have individual threads for each case, sometimes it’s not the same problem due to the different combinations of plugins and themes available in WordPress.

Since we don’t have recent reports of this problem with our users, we might need to re-visit all the troubleshooting steps.

    Many thanks!

Using WP 5.2.2. and Nextgen gallery 3.2.8 and having this problem uploaded files. No issues uploading to general WP media folder, but can’t even import from media folder to gallery. HELP!! Where can I find an older, bug-free version?

Wordpress. I have allowed the necessary permissions for the Uploads folder but when I upload an image sometimes it gives the file permission to display but other times not. This is a completely random result why? I am using Windows Server 2012 with IIS 8
