    Hi,

I am using NextGEN Gallery 2.0.37 Beta and i was trying to upload a gallery with the name ENVY – Nov 9 2013 and got the following error:

“An unexpected error occured. This is most likely due to a server misconfiguration. Check your PHP error log or ask your hosting provider for assistance.”

Could anybody say what the problem is.

    Thanks

@sandfree1 – I am 95% sure its the size of the images. Try resizing and that should fix it. That was the solution for me. Up to recently i was getting that error because I forgot to resize. Once there were resized it was all fine again.

Thanks but this issue was long since solved. It was definitely not the size of the images…they’re set firmly at 1400 x 1400 and I have no upload problems now that I have rolled back.

    Thank you so much @sandfree1
I’ve lost 2 hours trying to figure out what was going with the server permissions, images sizes and my custom theme code …and the plugin just didn’t work.
Going back to 1.9.13 was the only way to make it work again.

You’re welcome. In spite of the great helpfulness of this forum, I had to search pretty endlessly to find an answer, and even the otherwise helpful NextGEN people were not about to acknowledge that with some themes (iFeature Pro 4, and now perhaps even iFeature Pro 5 – not tested yet), the upgrades of NextGEN ABSOLUTELY DO NOT WORK. Period. or didn’t as of even a month ago.

It had nothing to do with image sizes, as there are preferences that can be set to control the size, and set your own dimension limits.

    It…. just ….plain …..doesn’t….. work.

So in case anyone else has NextGEN galleries going, and you upgrade to the next release version, and suddenly it all stops and doesn’t “see” or upload or do anything – ROLL BACK.

It all stops and hasn’t been fixed….for certain themes, that is….past 1.9.1. I can’t speak for which themes…..but it doesn’t work.

And don’t bother with NextGEN customer service. They, like too many WordPress Forum moderator divas, will start by telling you to “disable your plug-ins, one by one, check your server, etc.” assuming the fault is yours, and not the version upgrade.

Disabling plug-ins is an often useless enterprise….if you have done it once (definitely do it once) and then rebooted, and the problem remains, it’s then an upgrade bug that has to be fixed.

Meanwhile, an added piece of advice I learned the hard way: back up locally often, and thoroughly.

I got the same error, my host service said the error is:

    Failed loading /opt/php54/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20100525/ZendGuardLoader.so: /opt/php54/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20100525/ZendGuardLoader.so: undefined symbol: zend_new_interned_string, referer: https://www.corsifotografia.pro/wp-admin/admin.php?page=ngg_addgallery

Any idea how to fix it?

@damoncarter – I don’t think your error messages are related to the OP and may even not be directly related to NextGEN Gallery but as it is, I would suggest starting your own topic with the details of your site’s issue(s) so we can try to help you sort this out.

    Thanks!

    – Cais.
