Alright, how do I upgrade wordpress 2.0.11 to the most recent version of wordpress 2.8.4 in the safest way possible without losing any of my 800 posts? Is there any reason why I shouldn’t upgrade to 2.8.4 as of yet? Is wordpress 2.0.11 still secure? Is anyone still using wordpress 2.0.11? What’s the difference between 2.0.11 and 2.8.4?

No one should be using that version. A vulnerability has been exploited which makes it very risky to run any version earlier than 2.8.4.

    How to Upgrade here

The best way to upgrade would be to get ahold of some of the intermediate versions from the release archive such as version 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.5 etc.. and upgrade piece by piece. This should help to minimise issues caused by upgrading from such an old version, as the step upgrades will have had more testing.

As always, disable your plugins and (in this case) switch to the default theme before upgrading.

Take a database backup or export your blog to ensure you don’t lose anything.

The upgrade went very well with no problem. I deactivate all the plugin before I download a copy of the database from my website to use with the xampp on my computer. I upgrade the database from wordpress version 2.0.11 to 2.1 to 2.2 to 2.3 to 2.5 to 2.6 to 2.7 and finally 2.8.4. It is much faster to do the upgrading on my computer. Then I upload the copy of the final database back to my website’s phpadmin to use with wordpress 2.8.4.
Everything worked really well. I didn’t have to fix anything.
