Upgrading to WP 4.2.1: WP-config.php – Safe to delete?
-
HI. I used the ‘One-Click Update’ to attempt to install WP4.2.1 and received the error message:
“The file ‘wp-config.php’ already exists. If you need to reset any of the configuration items in this file, please delete it first. You may try installing now.”
The system has now locked me on this error page and I cannot proceed or return to the dashboard, although by checking my file manager I see many of my WP files do seem to have been updated.I didn’t think I would need to delete this file as I am not changing my configuration.
I have saved a copy of it, but am unsure whether its needed for the remainder of the install process, so am hesitant about deleting it.Is it safe to delete this file? I’m guessing I might need to copy it back in after the install.
Many Thanks,
Lindsay (Very novice user)
