    Important Upgrade Notice!

Two plugin files have changed names in version 20160408.

So if you are upgrading from any version older than 20160408, make sure to DEACTIVATE the plugin BEFORE performing the update. Then after upgrading, reactivate the plugin and you’re good to go.

If you try upgrading without deactivating the plugin first, you may get an error, blank screen, etc. If that happens, you can delete the plugin directory:

    /wp-content/plugins/simple-ajax-chat/

After deleting this directory, you can visit your WP Admin Area and install the latest version of Simple Ajax Chat.

I know this is a bit of an inconvenience, but the changes are for the best and improve the overall quality and functionality of the plugin.

  • Sorry to say, even WITH deactivating it first, it gives an error:
    “Plugin has no header”

So, it WON’T reactivate after plugin. It isn’t critical for us (no one’s using it yet) but may be for others.

I can’t offer a solution as I have no clue what the error means.

Oops! No sorry, but here is a video showing that you are incorrect:

    https://perishablepress.com/share/simple-ajax-chat-upgrade.zip

The video clearly shows that deactivating BEFORE upgrading results in a clean update.

Please watch the video and let me know if any questions.

OMG Jeff, you make me download such big video for nothing…
It doesn’t show “that you are incorrect” either.

When I say, I got that error message upon reactivating the plugin, then I got that error message upon reactivating the plugin. There’s nothing “incorrect” about a “customer’s” experience, and nothing to argue about.

Maybe others will report the same issue, or not. But nothing in your reply helped me solve mine. As said, it’s not urgent for us. If the solution isn’t obvious to you, maybe I figure it out when I need to. At the moment I have critical things to solve, sorry.

Lol, the video clearly shows that if you deactivate the plugin first, there is no error. That’s all man, no reason to freak out or get upset. I am trying to help you, because I care ??

One thing that may help is clicking any other link in the WP Menu before clicking any USP menu link, as I do in the video. The “missing headers” error happens because the URL of the main plugin has changed, hence the reason for deactivating the plugin first. So after deactivating and upgrading, reactivate the plugin, click any menu link to reset the plugins screen, and then you’re good to go. Just like I show in that massive 9MB zipped video file.

I am unsure what’s wrong with you here?

NO ONE “freaks out” or “gets upset”. Had you READ you’d know that I said the exact opposite (aka, I don’t care at the moment).

I would really have thought you have more empathy/customer understanding: Lol, the video clearly shows that if you deactivate the plugin first, there is no error.
Man. Ever realized that YOU may not have the problem, but OTHERS have? Gosh, that message is …puh!

So, please YOU don’t freak out, just because one person wrote he got an error. Thanks.
