Upgrading to v.4.7.2: maintenance page?

  • Hi,
    I am going to upgrade to v. 4.7.2 from v. 4.6.1. I have a backup of

    wp-admin,
    wp-includes,
    db
    relevant configuration files such as wp-config and .htaccess

    I am going to update anything related to my theme and plugins before embarking on the actual upgrade. I will be using the 1-click update and I am wondering whether using the preformatted .maintenance.php page will be enough while WordPress is applying the update. Is this risky, in case the upgrade fails? Shall I use a custom page?
