I saw a link to upgrade WordPress in my wordpress admin panel. I clicked on the link, downloaded it, copied the files to my directory. Uploaded them and now nothing is there on my website. I didn’t make a backup because I just thought all you would have to do is download the new zip file, unzip, copy to your folder and upload. I’m new at wordpress.
I’ve tried to get to the install page, the page can’t be found. My wp-config file has all the same information. What can I do? this is a disaster for me.

How did you upload them? Give details!

(and as I said in the other thread: don’t even think of going to the install.php – that would wipe out all your old posts!!!)

Thanks for your answer. I uploaded them with Dreamweaver and also with CuteFTP.

DW is not OK, CuteFTP should be OK.

Actually, your files seem to be there:
    https://www.motorparasi.com/wp-content/themes/default/style.css
you just have the “blank page” disease ??

Do you have a htaccess file? try to remove it

I don’t know where the htaccess file is. I don’t see one.

When I go to https://www.motorparasi.com – it is just a blank page: Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage.

the htaccess file (if you have one) is in your blog′s root folder. in CuteFTP you should see it. deleting this file means that you′ll have to check your options for privacy and permalinks …later, if your blog reappears ??

have you tried to delete and re-upload all your files manually (with CuteFTP)? maybe there′s something missing or in the wrong directory. or maybe you forgot to run https://www.motorparasi.com/wp-admin/upgrade.php once after uploading your files?

before you touch your database to find out what happened to your blog, please make a backup ??

emirhan: Don’t ever open DW when you work with WordPress and don’t edit any WP files with it.
(and check your settings so DW doesn’t open all the files)

mdi: you don’t need to run upgrade from 2.3 to 2.3.1

There is no htaccess file in the root. Also how do I change the setting so DW doesn’t open the file? I can’t run the install.php folder, I’m still getting the page not found message in Internet Explorer.

You need to read carefully: I said DO NOT TRY TO RUN install.php. WHy is so difficult to understand it???

The files are there on your server, you just screwed up something while uploading…

With your FTP client (NOT the Dreamweaver!) delete all the WP files, except wp-config.php and the wp-content folder.
    Report back when done.

    What should I do?
    when I run this
    https://www.motorparasi.com/wp-content/themes/default/style.css DW is opening.
I tried to run upgrade.php and nothing happens in the browser either.

Man, you should post less and read more..

I have deleted all except wp-config and wp-content (and files that have nothing to do with WP. Just reporting back.

    Good.
Now, download a fresh WP 2.3.1 package from here.
    Unzip it on your computer.
With the same FTP program upload the files and folders – except the wp-content folder to your server!
