• Hi, I’ve been trying to upgrade my version of WP (from 2.1 to current 2.3) and keep getting this when I try and run the upgrade.php file…

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: wp_admin_css() in /home/sites/lightoverwater.co.uk/public_html/blog/wp-admin/upgrade.php on line 21

I can’t seem to work out whats going on so any help would be gratefully received!

  • I’d first consider deleting the WordPress files and reuploading as per Steps 7 and 8 in Upgrading_WordPress_Extended.

cheers, yes I’ve deleted and re-uploaded a number of times just to be certain…still no change.

Did you try it with a fresh copy (=new download)?
Files can get corrupted during the download, unzipping, upload…

ok, I’ll download the files all over and try again to see if that was the prob. thanks

nope, it suddenly threw all this back at me:

Warning: main(/home/sites/lightoverwater.co.uk/public_html/blog/wp-includes/taxonomy.php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/sites/lightoverwater.co.uk/public_html/blog/wp-settings.php on line 201

    erm…!

You should check whatever tool you are using for upload. The error says there is no wp-includes/taxonomy.php file on your server.

I’m using filezilla and ftp upload to server. never had a problem like this before which is rather odd why its suddenly happening.
right, just manually placed taxonomy.php in

inexplicably it seems to have worked…but not all of it wants to work in IE…
