Upgrading plugin wiped out settings in db

I just upgrade to 2.0.19 today and all of the previous version settings, the API key, and custom text for the checkout page opt-in were wiped out. There was not warning this would happen. I read the changelog.
I was able to rebuild the settings from memory but it took longer to find the custom message my client had used for the opt-in on the checkout page.
Is this standard behavior for this plugin? Should I take a screenshot in the future?
I did perform a full site backup prior to updating the plugin and could have rolled it back if it had been a serious issue. So, please don’t suggest that.
