upgrading issues

  • i am having trouble upgrading my 1.2 blog to 1.5 then eventually to 2.5. But I can’t even get it to 1.5 yet.

    Every time I try to upgrade, it says “WP Isn’t installed, use install.php” or something like that, and wp IS installed.

    is there a way I can manually upgrade the sql database if possible because I believe that’ll be easier than this.

    help is greatly appreciated

  • So you have a 1.2 database? It probably is better to upgrade from 1.2 to 1.5. Then 1.5 to 2.0. Then 2.0 to 2.5. Just my preference…

    In theory you should be able to delete the 1.2 files, upload the 1.5 files, do the upgrade, delete the 1.5 files, upload the 2.0 files, do the upgrade, delete the 2.0 files, upload the 2.5 files, do the upgrade.

    The files to delete are pretty well discussed in Upgrading WordPress Extended, step 7

    yeah thats’ what im trying to do – upgrade from 1.2 to 1.5 but everytime i try it keeps telling me to run Install.php – and even that doesn’t work because there is a database there already.
