Hi mdenny1029. There are actually two versions of the theme: one in the wp.org repository (v1.3.9 with an upgrade to v1.4.5) and one available on the theme author’s website (v2.2.0). There isn’t a direct upgrade path from v1.4.5 to v2.2.0 because they aren’t quite the same. The version on the theme website contains addtional functionality which is described there.
To upgrade from v1.4.5 to v2.2.0:
1. Activate a default WP theme like Twenty Fifteen.
2. Delete the currently installed version of Hueman.
3. Download the new version zip file from the theme website.
4. Install the new theme in your Admin panel by selecting Add New > Upload Theme > Choose File, then select the zip file.
If you want to use a child theme there is a pre-configured theme, also available on the theme website. Scroll down the page a bit to find the download link. Install as noted in #4 above.
Couple of notes about the version on the theme website:
1. You will not receive any automatic notification of updates; you’ll need to check the website periodically. You’ll need to go thru the same process described above to install an updated version.
2. If you use the built-in Custom CSS option you’ll need to save that code or the custom.css file before you upgrade.
