We have a website featuring Woo Subscriptions. Automatic renewals occur via WooCommerce PayPal Checkout Gateway.

If we install WooCommerce PayPal Payments, will these renewals be handled automatically by the new plugin?

I found similar threads but situation was not exactly the same. That’s why I’m asking…

PayPal Payments has a migration feature to support existing subscriptions. The migration layer essentially utilizes the billing agreement from PayPal Checkout plugin as a token. This token is then communicated to the PayPal orders endpoint.

When you disable the PayPal Checkout gateway in your settings, your existing subscriptions of this plugin should be set as “PayPal (Legacy)”. This label indicates that the PayPal Payments plugin has successfully taken control of PayPal Checkout (PPEC) subscriptions.

If any of these subscriptions switch to “manual renewals,” please contact us for further assistance. We might need to look at your system report or logs to understand the problem better.
