I’m currently running ver 4.2.8. Back when 5.0 first came out, I was going to upgrade but could swear I saw some warnings listed in the details of the upgrade about how it was a major update, and how you needed to check certain items on your website before running the upgrade. I can’t find any mention of what those warnings were now. What should I be checking for before trying to upgrade? Thanks.

    Hello!

The message only appears when upgrading to TSF v5.0.0. Any minor update after that will not have the message unless we explicitly mark it. But, if we do that, users who have already upgraded to TSF v5.0 will get the same message again. WordPress doesn’t have a mechanism to emit the message only to those before a specific version number.

You can find the upgrade message here, it read:

This is a major upgrade. Make a backup of your database before updating. WordPress v5.9 or higher and PHP v7.4 or higher are now required. If you use the Extension Manager, update it to v2.6.3 or higher before updating this plugin. Downgrading to v4.2.8 is possible, but the description’s HTML parsing method will revert to its default setting.

It’s more of a disclaimer than anything else. WordPress blocks updates if your site doesn’t meet the upgrade requirements. Making a daily backup is an industry-standard practice. I also made sure older versions of Extension Manager would still operate as intended by implementing unrivaled and preeminent deprecation practices.
