• My web site was developed in version 3.4 and I would like to upgrade it to 3.9.1.

Before we try to do that, I’m not sure if the developers customised any of the WordPress core files.

Could you find a way to check if the files have been modified?
My problem is that I don’t know if the people who built the web site made changes to those core files. So if I upgrade I don’t know if the web site will still work?!?

Could you find a way to check if the core files of my site are the same as the core files in a version 3.4 installation?

  • I’m sorry but we do not have access to your site, so what you are asking isn’t possible. Additionally, we always strongly recommend that people never, ever, customise core WordPress files as this can bring down your entire site and/or open security holes for hackers to use. I would hope that your developers understood this but the only way to know for sure is to ask them.

With regard to your upgrade, as you have such an old version of WordPress, you will need to carry out a series of smaller manual upgrades. See Upgrading_WordPress_Extended for the full details.

Isn’t this post just this post regurgitated under a different user name?

    Yes, it is.

@tutordrumva? I’ve blocked your other account. Please do not create multiple accounts for the same thing.

I’m sorry you are having a hard time of it but this advice from Esmi really is good and can help you successfully get upgraded. Follow that link and give those instructions a good read.
