Upgrading from 2.8.4 to 2.9.2

  • I want to upgrade from 2.8.4 to the latest version, 2.9.2. Does anyone know of any possible issues in doing this?

    I haven’t upgraded WordPress before, – I hope that nothing will break, always a danger with upgrades.

    Here are the plugins I’m using:
    events-calendar
    include-html
    Fast & secure contact form
    all-in-one-seo-pack
    excerpt-editor
    tinymce-advanced
    revision-control
    search-everything

  • You could be facing far bigger hacking issues by not upgrading.

    Just make a backup first.

    I of course made a backup of everything first. Then I did the manual upgrade, copying over the contents of the top level directory, and then copying wp-includes and wp-admin after deleting the old ones.

    Went very smoothly, everything looks fine!
