My host provides ver.2.7 with its package. I installed it to discover that the latest ver. is 2.7.1. I guess I need to upgrade my installation before even starting posting.

I read somewhere that starting from 2.7 upgrades would be very easy task to do. Where can I find upgrade instructions specific to 2.7? Whatever I was able to find were rather intimidating long lists filled with if, but, then.

Thanks in advance for the help,

    gm

  • That would be in your Dashboard – Tools > Upgrade
of course, it would be a time to back up SQL and server files and folders before upgrade.

    mercime,

    Wow, It was reeealy cool!

Is there an easy way to “back up SQL and server files and folders before upgrade”? Please, excuse me for asking again, but I really liked your first answer? ??

    Thanks,

    gm

SQL backup: manual via phpMyAdmin or plugin WP DB Manager

Server files/folders: manual backup via FTP download from webhost server or if hosted in own server backup in CD/DVD.

    Cheers.

Just found “WordPress Automatic Upgrade” plug in which promises to take care about all the backups as well. Does it work as promises or it’s just yet another case of “too good to be true”?

    Thanks,

    gm

Use the one built-in with WordPress 2.7. That plugin will not be useful with your version (in fact, it’ll break the ability to upgrade).
