• I dont get it, why is it that every other plugin out there finds a way to not reset settings of their plugins every time they are upgraded, but yours do? Its extremely frustrating and wastes so much of my time having to revert changes and reupload old images that got recached, even though i had it set to never recache images (yet somehow that setting always gets reset on upgrade). Its quite frustrating and this isnt the first time i have had to bring this up.

  • If you have so much trouble using the plugin, why do you continue to use it? There are now other portfolio plugins around. Additionally, if you’re never refreshing images, it’d be wise to use static images rather than use a plugin.

The plugin is provided free, without warranty. It’s a bit much to expect flawless functionality.

Im not making any demands, I am just providing feedback. Do you think your the only one that provides a free plugin here? You have always been so thin skinned on these forums and I just dont get it. I dont think its unreasonable for people to expect quality out of something even though its open source/free. The whole point to using wp portfolio in the beginning was to have a simple and fast way to add sites to the portfolio versus having to manually take a screenshot, size it, upload it, assign it, etc.

Again, my feedback is not at all reflective of my appreciation for your plugin, it still doesnt mean i cant desire for it to work better and in all honesty, work correctly. I dont think anyone expects there settings to get wiped every time they upgrade their plugins. Actually its only yours that does this out of the hundreds of plugins I have used and or created over the past few years.

At this point, with your attitude, I can only surmise that you are losing the settings on purpose so that your link is shown again on peoples sites when they disable it. Which find a bit funny as why would someone showing a portfolio want to show a link to someone that does the same type of work?

I take your points. Sadly I’m very thin skinned, and do react badly when my work or myself is criticised.

I’ve never encountered the error myself (I use my plugin on 2 websites). However, from looking at the code, I have a theory why the problem is occurring, and why it’s affecting you and never affects me.

Do you only get the issue with settings not being maintained when upgrading, with these options?:

    1) Disabling the credit link?
    2) “Never Expire Thumbnails” is selected?

Or are there any other options that get hit? Presumably the STW codes are fine?

Yes, those are the two settings i have and seem to get reset on upgrades. STW stuff seems to be ok, but it seems that with their policy changes, they arent as useful as they used to be. =/ I dont know who would actually

I think some of my styling got reset as well, but I cant 100% confirm that as I thought a majority of my styling was used outside of wp-portfolio files. Could it be that some of your styling was maybe readded that I had removed?

Right, based on the issue with styles and what you’ve told me, I’m pretty sure I’ve found the problem and why it hits you and not me.

When a setting is set to 0/false, the install/upgrade code sets up a default value. The code assumes that there’s never intentionally a 0/false value, which is wrong in the case of update frequency, the credit link and the styles.

I’ll fix this as soon as I can.
