Upgraded to pro version wont install

Hi,
I’ve spent the last couple of days building a portfolio in your free filterable portfolio plugin. I wanted to add captions so I clicked “upgrade to pro” however now it wont install unless, I assume , I deactivate the free version and install the pro version. Is there a way to upgrade without losing all the work I’ve already done ?
