• Just upgraded a site (hosted on GoDaddy) to WP 4.6 and now image thumbnails are not working.

After I upload an image using the Media Upload, the thumbnail appears broken. If I EDIT the image, I can see that it is there as a full sized image if I wanted to crop or rotate it, but the thumbnail won’t update or appear even if I try and update it.

Example: This image is there if I edit it, but the thumbnail, or the actual image itself, won’t appear and just gives me a 404 link.

    Troubleshooting:

    I have already:
    (a) deactivated all plugins
    (b) switched to the Twenty Sixteen theme
    (c) performed a manual upload of 6.4 as recommended

Yet I am still unable to see/use thumbnails.

Any images I uploaded before the 4.6 upgrade are still there, and still working with thumbnails.

Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

    Nikki

If I switch to https:// then i can’t access the site because I get a “your site is not secure” error. So that didn’t work, no.

That’s not the issue I have. The images still load, I don’t get mixed content errors. I just have no thumbnails.

    Any other thoughts?

I have a similar problem for my client’s websites. They use GoDaddy as well.
None of the images load on the website or in the media library, but they load when I edit them.

Right now the only workaround I have found was to import a backup of their website on my test website on Siteground.
