Upgraded to 2.6.1 – Still says “WordPress 2.6.1 is available! Please Update Now”

  • After I uploaded the contents of 2.6.1.tar.gz to my site (overwriting the old files, I ran wp-admin/upgrade.php from my browser. It said it needed to upgrade the database tables, so I told it to do so. I get to the main admin screen, and it still says “WordPress 2.6.1 is available! Please update now.”

    I flushed the browser cache and even tried another computer that never logged in to the admin screen.

    I’ve tried both the .zip and the .tar.gz from the wp download page. No errors were reported when I uploaded the files (overwriting the existing files).
