Upgraded to 2.3 – now can’t access admin section

delete this file: wp-includes/compat.php

upload a fresh copy of the same file to the same location.

That function is defined in that file. See if that doesnt help.

Thank you for your reply. I followed your instructions and at least the admin box showed. I inputted the relevant access details but now get the following error.

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: update_category_cache() in /home/sites/letterfromwales.com/public_html/blog/wp-admin/admin.php on line 20

Did you follow the upgrade instructions. Specifically this step.

You didnt have a successful upgrade. If you ftp’d the files, the overwriting of the old ones wasnt successful.

Delete files, then upload new ones. Do that for everything inside wp-includes/ Do that for all the files inside wp-admin/ and wp-admin/includes/

You can also, just to be sure, do the same for all the wp-prefixed files that live in the same directory as your wp-config.php, to it’s exclusion.

DO NOT delete and reupload wp-config.php

If you have made any changes to those files, you probably want to download them first so you can apply those changes to the new ones

I need to ask your kind help again.

a) The catgories(2) have now gone and the posts (70) are all now uncategorised. When I try to add a new category it will not let me add a new category.
b) The posts now have this link:

I refer to: “https://letterfromwales.com/blog//”

which means when I click on this it now goes nowhere

Please help me.
