• I’ve only been on WordPress for about 4 months and just did the upgrade to 3.4.2. Now that I’ve done the upgrade when I go to the Site Admin I get the following message:
    404
    Whoah! You broke something!
Just kidding! You tried going to https://diningatdisney.com/wp-admin/upgrade.php?_wp_http_referer=%2Fwp-admin%2F, which doesn’t exist, so that means I probably broke something.

I purchased my hosting through GoDaddy and did the update there. I rolled back to the previous version hoping that would help and it didn’t. I then did the update again and there is still no change.

What do I do next? Thanks for any help you can give!

  • Go for a manual upgrade of WordPress. Follow the below procedure:

    1. Download the latest version of WordPress from here

    2. Make a backup of all your WordPress files and MySQL database.

    3. Delete the directories wp-admin and wp-includes.

    4. Delete all files from the root of your website starting with “wp-” except the wp-config.php file.

    5. Extract the downloaded version of WordPress and upload all files and directories except the wp-content directory and the wp-config.php file.

    6. To perform the upgrade, navigate to https://yoursitename/wp-admin/upgrade.php and follow the on screen steps.

    That should do the trick.

I’m completely new to this. How do I make a backup of the files and MySQL database on GoDaddy?

    Thank you!

Do you have the previous backup?
