Hi. I have 2 related questions. A few days ago my site was upgraded to WP 5.5. My staging site is still at 5.4.2. Am I supposed to update my staging site myself (I can’t figure out how), or is it the responsibility of my site host?
Also, since the upgrade my live site layout has changed slightly, and is a little bit different to my staging site (wider pages, changed menu width etc.) and this means that what I think looks good, actually is out of balance on the live site. I fully realise that this is probably due to the WP differences, but I would be grateful if an expert was to confirm of debunk my suspicions.

  • Hi! If your hosting provides ways to automatically create a staging site from working one and updating of the working site from the staging one, you can just use these tools to make your staging site exactly as your main one. If not — update the staging site yourself.

It will be easier than copying the main site to staging one yourself:

Thanks for replying. It seems I’ll need to ring the provider. They are notoriously slow, so I’ll need to set aside a bit of time!
