• I just updated my 3.9.2 WordPress site to 4.1.1. The first thing I noticed was all the contact forms were missing from the site (form fields are missing but the captcha is still displayed). When I went to edit the pages to attempt to repair them I found I could not open the layout builder. The edit page opens but the animated “loading” cursor on the layout builder spins and the page never loads.

    It leaves me with a site I cannot edit or change.

    Suggestions?

  • I updated yesterday as well and I have the same problem.
    Visual page builder is not visible. After reloading the page it appears but anyhow I’m not able to edit the page or it is not possible to open rich format editing. :/
    That’s really bad cause I’m not able to add any new posts :/ or edit the old.

    I lost the visual editor after the auto update from 4.1 to 4.1.1. The final solution for me was to directly edit the wp_options table in the database to reset the “advanced_edit” setting to 1. Somehow during the update, the settings were reset automatically.

    @dsmcpherson – you’ll need to start troubleshooting that – by deactivating all plugins manually – use FTP or Cpanel to access your site files on the server and rename the plugins folder to:

    wp-content/content/plugins.HOLD

    sorry ??

    @wpyogi,

    I had a backup of the 3.9.2 installation and when the upgrade to 4.1.1 did not go as planned I restored to the older version. I am in the middle of promoting the site to production. When I am done and have two secs, I will go back and recreate the upgrade problem and start to debug it as you suggested by disabling the plugins to see if one of them was the offending party. I will also try @jrcwp’s suggestion regarding editing the wp-options settings. Will post again when I have more info. Thanks

    Sounds like a good strategy – though I wouldn’t edit anything in the database to begin with for sure. That’s not a common issue/solution that I’ve seen.

    OK will start with plugins….Thanks

    What thread did this move to? I’ve got the same problem, and I have deleted all plugins, and have only default themes installed and builder and hudson. Looking for a solution.

    As far as I’m concerned this is a files issues and not a database issue because by reverting to 4.1 from 4.1.1 and making no changes to the database, this issue is fixed for me. But I’d like to be running 4.1. Since I have no plugins installed, it isn’t a plugin conflict. I would appreciate someone pointing me at the new thread when you have a chance, because I need some help with this one.

    I solved my problem by first upgrading my theme (enfold) & all my plugins and then upgrading WordPress to the lasted version. I am not sure where exactly the problem was but I have a suspicion that it was in the LayerSlider code that comes with Enfold as it was doing some funny stuff (loosing connections to image files used in a slider even though they were still in the media library). That is just a guess as I did not do any exhaustive testing once I got it working.

    I updated from 3.9 to 4.1.1 and lost 6 months of content. Any suggestions. I did not back up
