I upgraded to 3.5.1 and now, none of my images are showing on my site OR in the dashboard OR anywhere. If I click on Media – the files are all listed but no thumbnails show – if I click on the filename and then click edit, the picture shows up.

Very strange but I really need some help to get this fixed

Thanks so very much in advance!!

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

    Thanks –
I have deactivated all plugins and nothing changed.

I have switched themes to no avail – same results.

I am in the process of re-uploading all files and folders, will let you know. One thing I did notice and I’m not sure if it was there prior to 3.5.1, under Settings – Media it has “Organize my uploads into month- and year-based folders” and it is checked – I’m not certain that was even there before let alone checked – just pulling at straws here…

Have you checked – via FTP – that the images are all still present in your wp-content/uploads folders?

    Thread Starter flips256

    (@flips256)

Yes, they are all there – in folders by year (2012) and then by Month (05, 06, etc.)

Can we see a page that has links to one or more of these missing images?

    (@flips256)

    Sure –

    here is my site

    https://intimateimage.net

Pick a page – every page and post is supposed to have images – right now all you see are little blue question marks…

Can you please re-enable right-click on the site.

    sure – sorry – done

Just an update – uploaded new, CLEAN WordPress – still no change…

    (@flips256)

and now I just realized that my OTHER site is also hosed up – what the heck??? It’s very difficult to sell photography when you can’t see images!!!

    How do I roll back??

Looks like a permissions issue. Check that anti-hotlinking isn’t enabled in your hosting account. If it is, try disabling it.

    Thread Starter flips256

    (@flips256)

Well – we have a partial fix –

I did have Anti-Hotlinking activated on my server – I disabled it and one of my sites worked – the one I downgraded to 3.4.2 –

The other one on 3.5.1 still doesn’t work. So I am backing up my 3.4.2 site and I will upgrade it to 3.5.1 – if it breaks then I will downgrade both of my sites to 3.4.2 and never touch it again!!

    (@flips256)

ugh – This is so frustrating!!!

So, my other site (on the exact same theme) is working flawlessly – totally upgraded it back to 3.5.1 and it still works great.
My original site is now showing half of the images – if I pull up the Library – nothing but blue question marks…
I took it back to 3.4.2 and then back up to 3.5.1 —

*Right clicks and is really frustrated*

…It would help us help you if you didn’t make it hard to get to those images… Disabling right click accomplishes not a thing and just irritates your viewers…

    See this image?

    https://intimateimage.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/boud_0004.jpg

It and others are tossing 403 Forbidden errors. That means either your web server’s file system is misconfigured or you are employing something that’s messing that up.

I’m guessing it’s your anti-hotlinking that’s doing it. How is that employed?

    Thread Starter flips256

    (@flips256)

I have re-enabled right clicking – not sure how that would irritate my regular viewers unless they were trying to steal my images? But whatever,

Anti-hot linking is employed through C-panel. I went in and disabled it. But like I said, now some images are showing up and most aren’t. If it were something configured wrong wouldn’t that affect all of them?
