upgrade to 3.1 Home page no longer loads

did automatic upgrade to 3.1 – no errors – admin page is fine, can browse directly to specific posts, categories, pages for site but if we try to visit the home page it will eventually time out with no error message – just says page cannot be displayed?? Tried different themes, disable plugins, can’t get home page to load. Any help is greatly appreciated! site is running on windows using IIS and is not out in the public or i would send a link.
