• Hi,

I’ve been using the evolve theme since I created my site last year with no problems. I have heavily modified the look of the theme so have created a child theme as recommended by WordPress, so future updates do not affect the appearance of my site.

I am experiencing some difficulties however. The current version of evolve on my site is 3.6.4 – I am unable to access the ‘customise’ section on WordPress to edit the theme any longer. If I try to update the theme to 3.6.6, the entire site crashes and I get an error page (HTTP 500 error I think) – my only fix is to restore a snapshot backup of my site from the day before.

Any ideas why I can no longer customise my site or update the theme without it breaking? Until now, the evolve theme has been great and I really don’t want to lose it

    Many thanks,

  • Hi
Please use a manual update at this moment
    https://theme4press.com/docs/theme-installation-update/
as this seems to be an internal errors.
    Thank you

    Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply, but I have already tried a manual update and that does not work either. It’s almost as if there is something in the update that doesn’t agree with my site. Whatever the issue, I cannot update to 3.6.6 without the whole site coming down and me having to restore a snapshot back-up

    Hi,

Please check server PHP version updated or not.
Try to get server error log and paste it here, we can check what is the issue.
Also enable WP_DEBUG TRUE, in your site root wp-config.php file.
Then check is there any error show.

    Thank you

    Hi,

    Here is the server PHP info;

    Current PHP version: 5.3.28

I am afraid I am a novice at using WordPress so won’t be able to do much editing within the files. All I know is that even if I remove the theme completely and install the updated one as a new theme, it still crashes

    Thanks,

    Hi,

I am experiencing some difficulties also.
Was running version 3.6.4 of Evolve on my site everything was nice.
    I upgraded to 3.6.6,

From Internet Explorer, Social Icons on top and Font Awesome don’t appear any more.
From Chrome, Social Icons on top and Font Awesome are OK but the Main Menu is double.

Can anybody inform me what it looks like?

@jdubois450 – please start your own thread if you are having different issues as it becomes complicated what advice (if any) is meant for what issue otherwise.

@romik84 – I can confirm that the issue of not being able to customise the theme (whilst still on 3.6.4) was due to a plugin. If I deactivate the plugin, I can enter the customise menu as normal.

However, the website crashing at 3.6.6 is still present, even with all plugins disabled. If I change themes, I can update evolve in the background but as soon as I select it as my main theme again the website goes down. Looks like I will have to stay on the older version

    Hi,

Please update evolve theme with latest version 3.6.7 in which site slow down issue remove.

    Thanks

    Hi romik84

I’m afraid updating to 3.6.7 causes the same issues – blank white screen as soon as the theme is activated. I can’t afford to have the site down so will just have to stick with the older version (3.6.4) until I find a fix or an alternative theme

    Thanks
