Uploaded the 2.92 kit over the top of my prior installation. When I invoked wp-admin/upgrade.php, I received this error:
“Fatal error: Cannot redeclare _c() (previously declared in /home/jkbrown9/public_html/stephblog/wp-includes/l10n.php:159) in /home/jkbrown9/public_html/stephblog/wp-includes/deprecated.php on line 1812”

    what to do??
    thx

  • Did you delete the old wp-includes and wp-admin directories first?

on the server you mean? nope. If I do that now, can I upload those 2 directories again & do over?

    Yes. I’d try that first.

Looks like progress. Now getting “Fatal error: Call to undefined function is_admin() in /home/jkbrown9/public_html/stephblog/wp-includes/vars.php on line 16”
Note that I have replaced the “wordpress” folder with “stephblog”. It worked fine before upgrade. Is there a config file someplace that I missed updating?

When did you do that replacement? Before or after the upgrade? If it was before, did you check that everything was working correctly before carrying out the upgrade?

The is_admin function is a pretty basic one, so it still looks like you’re still missing some files (or have some bad copies).

replacement before upgrade, when I first installed. worked fine for a couple of years. guess i’ll start over on the upgrade. do I need to delete everything except the stuff in wp_content?

    Yes.
