Upgrade to 2.8.4 hung on database upgrade

    Upgrading from 2.8.3 to 2.8.4 using the automatic upgrade feature. The last line from the status said that the database was being upgraded and then nothing, hit anything else and I get

    Briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance. Check back in a minute.

    Any help on my next move? Can I do a manual upgrade? Thanks.

    Spoke too soon – the auto-upgrade timed out and failed but the script recognised that and I was prompted to attempt again or install manually. Tried again with the auto-upgrade and this time it worked. Given that my blog is on a hosting package where they oversell the servers, I wouldn’t be surprised that that was the cause as service can be patchy.
