Upgrade to 2.2 messed up wp-admin

    My blog still fuctions, but when I try to access my dashboard this is what I get:

    Fatal error: Call to undefined function: urlencode_deep() in /home/fadedout/public_html/blog/wp-includes/functions.php on line 807

    I thought it could be related to a plugin, so I deleted everything in my plugin folder. However, this did nothing and the error still shows up. Can someone help me please?

  • Might try reuploading the wp-includes/formatting.php file.

    IF you manually upgraded, you didnt follow the instructions.

    That function was introduced in 2.2 and is defined inside wp-includes/formatting.php

    If youre seeing that error it is because you did NOT delete the files before uploading the new files.

    Delete your current wp-includes/formatting.php and upload a new one out of the 2.2 zip.

    Every time I upgrade, I usually do not delete the files…I just upload the new files and let them overwrite…so that’s a bit of a bad habit I have. Thanks for the suggestion; I didn’t think such a simple thing could have such a huge effect. Works fine now.
