I wanted to test out WP 2.0 before actually upgrading my blog from WP 1.5.2.

I created a WordPress test db and did a fresh install of WP 2.0. I then went into my original blog WP 1.5.2 admin panel, set RSS # of posts to 100 (I have less than 100 posts total), and then clicked my RSS link to download my content. I then went into my testdb WP admin panel to import my content (Import > RSS). This seemed to work great!

Since I started using WP 1.5.2 only last week, have less than 100 posts, have no plugins activated, and have generally not touched the various WP default settings or files, would this be a bad way of “upgrading”?

    Thanks! ??

  • RSS import won’t import your users or comments, so it’d be simpler to go down the normal upgrade route: delete the old files and upload the new ones.

Ah, okay, did not know that, since I currently have no comments and I am the only user.

    Thanks, davidhouse! ??
