• I originally did a clean install of 1.5, but I had issues with categories, the calendar, archives, permalinks working properly. I cleared everything, inlcuding the database. I did a fresh install of 1.2, created a couple posts and categories and tested it. Permalinks were NOT used. The calendar worked properly, the archives worked properly, the categories and comments worked properly, etc. Then I did an upgrade to 1.5 and (without touching anything, no permalinks) nothing works except for the categories. This is the same issue I had with the original install of 1.5 (non-upgrade). I can’t comment, sort by category, view archives properly (it doesn’t sort them, just shows the posts that are on the front page). There seems to be something that isn’t carried over properly in the upgrade. Any clues? I’d like to use 1.5, but maybe I’ll just stick to 1.2. I hope this helps the developers troubleshoot.

  • I tend to think there is something with your host’s settings since for everyone else the things you listed work properly.

But, why would the items I listed, with the exception of permalinks work fine in 1.2 but not 1.5?

Perhaps your host has only the correct php etc. versions for 1.2? I don’t know that there was a change there that would matter; however, my host had to do “something” before they could offer the 1.5 upgrade – and the upgrade to 1.5 that I tried on my own SEEMED as if it worked, but had various borkages I discovered over time (don’t really remember what all they were now – I do know I had commenting problems). Eventually I exported the database, deleted the installation, reinstalled 1.22 and waited until my host offered the upgrade through Fantastico.
