Upgrade stages from 4.9

  • Hi All

    My inherited site is using WP 4.9.10 and I need to upgrade it
    I have PHP 7.4 installed

    Within the WP Admin Panel it informs me that I have the most up to date version of WordPress (4.9.10)

    I have followed the upgrade instructions on worpdress.org – uploading files but as soon as the files are uploaded I get a generic 500 error so I cannot run the upgrade program.

    I uploaded 5.9 – should I be uploading a previous version first?
