• Im upgrading from 2.2.3 to 2.3.1 and I deleted all the folders in the guide. I also uploaded the new version.

Upon running upgrade.php, I got this error message

Fatal error: Call to undefined function _http_build_query() in /home/atheista/public_html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 583

    ??

I tried re-uploading the file, but nothing happened. Help please! thanks.

will it solve the problem if I overwrite the php file of another blog over my blog? I failed to make back ups (idiotic, I know). The php files along with the wp-* folders are more or less the same as the one in the downloaded zips, right?

I’d first consider deleting the WordPress files and reuploading as per Steps 7 and 8 in Upgrading_WordPress_Exte

done, but the same error persisted. ??

    Deactivated all plugins?

Might also try the WordPress Default 1.6 theme.

yup, I did before I tried doing the upgrade.

    How do I do that?

    Thanks

The _http_build_query function is in wp-includes/compat.php so might make sure you upload, at least, that file. Use Filezilla or make sure you are uploading in ASCII mode.

If necessary, please report back here the following:
    Webserver:
    Webserver version:
    PHP Version:
    MySQL Version:

As regards your question, you can try deleting all the wp-content/themes folders except default. You do have a backup, correct?
