• Hello!

I have WP multisite and my “Upgrade Network” page always shows “Database Upgrade Required” even after I updated the network. Is it OK or something wrong with it?

  • I think it means your database needs updatin’.

Don’t you get directed to a URL with instructions of how to complete the process?

I didn’t quite catch what URL with instructions you mean. When I go to “Network Update” page and press “Upgrade Network” button WP shows the list of my sites and upgrades them. But after that it still shows “Database Upgrade Required”.

But after that it still shows “Database Upgrade Required”.

    Is there no link?

    It says this right?

“Database Update Required WordPress has been updated! Before we send you on your way, we have to update your database to the newest version. The update process may take a little while, so please be patient.”

    And there’s a button…

I have the same problem too.

count me in also, fresh 3.6 install, multisite subdirectories

when I try the proposed database upgrade (click the button), it seems to do some stuff (browser loading), but then returns without any message, and back to the starting point, as if nothing happened

Check your database permissions; this was an issue for me. During the upgrade I gave the WordPress user full permissions to the WordPress database and it resolved the issue. I then peeled the permissions back to their previous state.

My database permissions are OK. It shows “All done!” at the end of update process, but when I open “Upgrade Network” page it says “Database Upgrade Required” button and shows “Upgrade Network” button.

    That’s … not an error.

If you go to /wp-admin/network/upgrade.php, yes, it always says that. In fact, I think it always did.

Okay it may be an bug that needs fixing, but it doesn’t actually mean you need to upgrade the network. I think you guys are fine, and you don’t need to upgrade over and over.

If you’re NOT seeing this message, you’re not broken.

“Database Update Required WordPress has been updated! Before we send you on your way, we have to update your database to the newest version. The update process may take a little while, so please be patient.”

If you see that, over and over, there’s a problem. This other message, though, I’ll check and see if that was intended or not.
