I have tested the upgrade button (on 2.7) and the result is the site destroyed.

I have this message for a while:

Briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance. Check back in a minute.

And nothing else. How can I remove that?

I have found a solution, for now at least:
    I have loaded:

    wp-admin/upgrade.php

and the site is now correctly displayed. I have some doubt about automatic upgrade nevetheless.

I have this message on the dashboard:
“An automated WordPress update has failed to complete – please attempt the update again now.”

    No chance!

Remove the .maintenance file from the root directory. That’s created while it updates, but if the update does not finish, it gets left behind.
