Upgrade from 2.0.17 -> 2.0.23 Fails everytime

Can anyone help I’m trying to update from 2.017 to 2.0.23 and it fails everytime.
I have attempted this 3 time now once from a work PC so thought it was their Proxy causing issues as it seemed to go down in the middle of the update. Had to restore from backup when i got home.
Retried by uploading the zip to see if that made any difference this on stuck on “Removing old addon” or something similar. again restored from back up as was not moving anywhere.
Retried to process update and it is currently stuck at “Unpacking the update…” and has been there for 5 mins.
Other updates today have worked fine just not Nextgen Gallery.
Any ideas?
