    Hi,
Seeeing an update notice in my local install, I tried this upgrade. The upgrade failed, giving verbiage about how the upgrade could not delete the old version of the plugin.

Now the message I see at the top of the plugins list is:

The plugin types/wpcf.php has been deactivated due to an error: Plugin file does not exist.

It sounds like it died during the deleting and replacing of files. Indeed, looking in the Types folder, there’s nothing except the empty /plus folder, which contains a couple more blank folders. A plain reinstall failed because of those files being there. I deleted the /types folder entirely, and then the regular install and activation worked fine. My Custom Post Types seem fine. It appears that this process worked OK.

I didn’t do too much in Types on this local install, so I can’t assure anyone that a fancy Types setup would have similar results. It may even be a generic WordPress plugin install failure, but I hope this is helpful to anyone interested.

    Thanks, Dave

  • I have the same issues with updating the plugin on several (but not all) websites I created. Maybe it is because of a php memory issue or something in that order? After each update I need to manually check each website if the plugin did update and is activated again.

    An interesting thought!

I wonder if Types is getting especially complex these days – updating issues seem to be on the increase.
