Please help if you have a minute…

I just tried to upgrade https://jurgenfauth.com to WP 2.1. I followed the steps and everything seemed to be going fine–until I tried to reactive the Category Visibility plugin. It’s not ready for 2.1 yet, and the beta available at the website still threw up errors.

So I decided to revert to my backups. I imported the database file successfully and then deleted the wordpress files from the server. Then I reuploaded the files I had backed up.

But I when look at the page now, I see an error text on the front page that says:

WordPress database error: [Table ‘wordpress.wp_linkcategories’ doesn’t exist]

When I try to log into the administration, I see the following message:

Your database is out-of-date. Please upgrade.

I’m not sure what to do at this point.

I reuploaded the database backup, and now it seems to work better–I can get into the admin interface and the site loads more or less correctly.

Now there is a mysterious error message that reads:

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/jurgen/public_html/wp-content/themes/freshy/functions.php on line 298

Also, all umlauts and special characters have been replaces with question marks…?
