• Hello,
After having some problems, I upgraded to version 2.8.4. I went to the admin page and clicked on the Upgrade WordPress Database, then a short time later my neighbourhood had a power outage.

Now, my main page is visible, but my subpages are not. When I click on my admin page, I get the original “upgrade wordpress database” page again. But when I click on the button, I get the error message pasted below. Any suggestions for a remedy?

    Many thanks,
    Jennifer

  • Hi,

I suggest you to redo the upgrade and disable all the plugins and after that do the manual upgrade to your blog.

    Thanks,

    Thanks Shane.
By “re-do the upgrade”, do you mean delete the new files from the server and upload them again?

I deleted the new files from the server, uploaded them again, and pressed the “Database Upgrade Required” button.

I still get the same message I copied above.

Can someone please help? I can’t do anything on my blog – add posts, reply to comments, etc. I can’t get into my admin page. It’s been down for a week and I’m losing readers.

It’s clear WordPress is beyond my capabilities. But if someone can just help me get going for now, I promise I’ll go to an easier application (for non-techies) and stop bothering you.

    Many, many thanks.

Hope you have taken backup of your database before you upgraded WordPress. Create a new database and restore your old database contents and try again to upgrade your wordpress.

Did all that. Nothing seems to change no matter how many databases or upgrades I try. Have abandoned WordPress. It’s for experts, not me.
    Thanks for your response.
