Upgrade 2.8 version to 3.0

    My server is also running an old version of WordPress and I want to upgrade to the latest version. I have followed the link above and that does NOT WORK. When I click on the “upgrade now” banner on my dashboard, it sends me to a page to download WordPress and install from the start. I want to upgrade. Not install from the start. I should not have to download wordpress to my computer hard drive should I? It is running on a server. Please, someone help!
