• hello there,
I have been using wordpress 1.2 since June last year and its been great. i had a lot of help with my site design / layout but its been unchanged for months https://www.alibutt.com
I have really been tempted for ages to upgrade and i would now finally like to take the leap to 1.5 (Gulp!).
I have seen a few guides to go from 1.2 to 1.5 .. and then some other pages saying “dont use this guide to upgrade to 1.5 .. it will ruin your blog!”

So i was wondering if there was now a definitive guide on how to do this? I have around 250 posts .. and i dont want anything to go wrong :-p

would appreciate some assistance in this.

    Thanks in advance.
    Ali

  • Version 1.5 is not yet a stable release. If you want to move to it, I would suggest that you do a complete backup of your current site, and your database as well. Once you have moved to 1.5, you can’t easily go back to 1.2.2 without restoring your backups.

There is not yet a definitive guide because things may still change with 1.5. If you are okay with the fact that things on your site *may* break, or that some of your plugins and things that you currently use may not function properly without an “upgrade” (if one exists) then go ahead and make the switch.

    Hey there Moose,
Do you have any idea when the Version 1.5 will be released? Hope its not too cold up there for you.
