Our website host, Freeparking, has totally messed up our website (harboursport.co.nz) when they cloned and synced to make a staging site. There has been radio silence so I have to try and fix our site asap. I am trying to restore from a backup but not having much luck, only the Others seems to show that the restore has been successful.

There are a few fails in all the Plugin and Themes restores and the Database Restore is coming up with the following error:

Retrieving (if necessary) and preparing backup files…

    updraft_send_command: error: error ()

Please help me, I am totally stuck right now!

    Thank you in advance, Paula

    Hi,

The usual cause of the error you are getting is a timeout in PHP-FPM. Can you consult your web hosting company to check if that is the case, and what they suggest? (What is the timeout? The default is 60 seconds in PHP-FPM; so the server would have to be hugely overloaded for that… so I suspect there is more to it, but the server admin is the person with the access to find out).

    Regards,
    Bryle

Is it possible to setup a fresh wordpress site and use the backup files to populate the site?

You could start with a fresh WP install. In my experience the others is mostly standard WP files included in every install and cache so if your site is functioning without this, I would just leave this out of the restoration (I never back up my others)
